Women's Equality Day

Today is WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY. The 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the right to vote, turns 96 today. Tennessee was the 38th state to ratify the amendment, which made it part of the constitution. But it wasn't until 1984 that the last state ratified the amendment! http://participate.lwv.org/…/sal…/web/common/public/content…
The League of Women Voters was born in the fight for the 19th Amendment’s ratification. In celebration of its 96th birthday, we’re taking a minute to share some vintage pictures of ordinary women who led the fight for its ratification in all 50 states.
Enjoy this nostalgic look back at the last 96 years and find out which states took a while to finally ratify the 19th Amendment.
And stand with us as we continue to defend the voting rights of all Americans from fresh attacks today.
