Candidates and Issues
For nine decades, voters have trusted the League of Women Voters to provide nonpartisan information about candidates and issues on the ballot. Our mission is to help you be an informed voter. Unlike other sources, the League does not present information favoring one party or the other. We do not endorse candidates. We simply give you the tools to make an educated decision on your own.
In our Voter Information Bulletin, published prior to each general election, the League gives you the candidates’ answers to pressing public policy questions in their own words. We also translate complex ballot measures into straightforward language and supply “pro” and “con” arguments for major issues.
Working with the Franklin County Consortium for Good Government, we offer candidate forums throughout central Ohio where you can meet the candidates face to face and ask your own questions.
Throughout the year, voters can also use nonpartisan tools such as Project Vote Smart to learn more about how elected officials are voting and where they stand on important issues. Campaign finance information is available through Ohio Citizen Action, the Center for Responsive Politics, the Franklin County Board of Elections, and the Ohio Secretary of State.
